FORTE LALATTE  9"x 8" oil on canvas  $400

On the Britanny coast, not far from St. Malo and other fortified cities near the most narrow point along the English Channel, stands this 14th century castle closed in by ramparts.  Built to keep an eye on the comings and goings of the Normands, as well ward of the English during their frequent exploits, it now makes a lovely and fascinating stop along the colorful Atlantic coastline.  An easy stroll reveals many views, the draw bridge spanning the chasm between the rock it is built on and the shore, and the imagination can easily transport one back to the time when the lovely scene was more essential than esthetic.
